Dr. Carl Buising, formerly federal chief medical officer at Leidos (NYSE: LDOS), has joined ManTech International’s (NASDAQ: MANT) federal health information technology division as chief medical officer.

The certified physician will bring his two decades of health IT and medicine experience to his current role and help ManTech promote the adoption of IT systems among medical providers, the company said Thursday.

“Dr. Buising’s medical background and executive leadership will be invaluable as we continue to bridge the gap between healthcare providers and technology, ” said Daniel J. Keefe, president and chief operating officer of ManTech’s mission solutions and services group.

Buising has held leadership roles at Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) and I*MD Consulting and is also a former medical officer in the U.S. Army.

He graduated from the University of California at Irvine with a bachelor’s degree in biology and received his medical doctorate degree from Bethesda, Maryland-based Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.

Buising completed his family medicine residency at Georgia-based Martin Army Community Hospital.
