Susan Chodakewitz, president of Tetra Tech’s (NYSE: TTI) aviation management and information technology subsidiary, has been appointed to succeed Lakhbir Singh as CEO of economics consulting firm Nathan Associates.

Chodakewitz will officially start as CEO on April 27 and will become the first chief executive to have been appointed outside the company, Nathan Associates said Thursday.

Chodakewitz served as a senior vice president at Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAIC), where she held a 10-year career, before she joined Tetra Tech AMT in November 2006 as president.

She worked at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and the Library of Congress prior to holding consulting roles at Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH).

Singh, who will retire after a 39-year career at Nathan Associates, became president and chief operating officer of the company in 2008 before he succeeded Beyer as CEO in 2013.
