Northrop Demonstrates Protected Tactical Waveform Space Processor

northrop Grumman_BLUETYSONS CORNER, VA April 20, 2015 — Executive Mosaic — ExecutiveBiz reported Friday on Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) completing demonstration of a new protected tactical waveform space processor designed for use in military satellite communications.

Northrop said Wednesday the PTW platform targets gains in user data rates, spectral efficiency and bandwidth intended to help improve soldier communications in the battlefield.

The demonstration involved the software establishing communication links using the U.S. Air Force‘s PTW and also included tests on multiuser loading, forward-and-return processing and Ethernet switching.

According to Tim Frei, vice president for communication systems at Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, the company approached the concept demonstration project “as true risk reduction and prototype development” using Northrop’s standard process for flight units.
