The contract falls under NASA’s Entry Systems Technology Research and Development initiative and carries an initial value of $2.2 million over a two-year base term and three option years, the agency said Tuesday.
NASAÂ aims to build spacecraft capable of traveling at a very high velocity into the Earth’s atmosphere and to other planets, including Mars, through the program.
ESTRAD is a hybrid cost-plus-fixed-fee contract that is managed by the agency’s Ames Research Center in California.
