Michael Basla, Former Air Force CIO, Appointed to SVP Role at L-3

Michael Basla, a retired U.S. Air Force lieutenant general and a former chief information officer of the service, has joined L-3 Communications‘ (NYSE: LLL) national security solutions unit as senior vice president for strategic development.

The company said Wednesday Basla will report to NSS President Les Rose and help oversee product development for L-3 NSS customers in the fields of information technology, cyber and intelligence.

“Mike Basla is a leader and a visionary whose operational and strategic expertise has left a lasting impact on the defense of our nation, ” said Rose.

Basla retired from military service in November 2014 after a 35-year career that included time as the Air Force’s chief of information dominance, vice commander of the Air Force Space Command and director of C4 systems for the Joint Task Force Southwest Asia.
