Leidos (NYSE: LDOS) CEO Roger Krone officially became chairman of the board of directors on March 20, less than a year after he joined the company from Boeing (NYSE: BA).

The board designated Krone as the successor to former Chairman John Jumper, who served as CEO until he retired from that role last year, Leidos said Wednesday.

Jumper will continue with the company as a member of the board.

“John was immensely helpful during my transition into the CEO role, and over the past few months. I know that he will continue to add value as a member of our board, ” Krone, an inductee into Executive Mosaic‘s Wash100 for 2015, said during Leidos’ earnings call for the first quarter of fiscal 2015.

“I see the consolidation of the roles of chairman and CEO as a way to streamline our operations” he added.
