Mark Pomerleau writes the Shared Spectrum Access for Radar and Communications program’s second phase will focus on the S-band radio frequency ranging from 2 to 4 gigahertz.
DARPA will accept feedback from industry through April 27.
The agency partnered with Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAI), SAZE Technologies and the Michigan Technological University under phase 1 of the SSPARC initiative.
The organizations used analysis and simulation tools to study if spectrum sharing is possible without affecting the performance of radar and communications systems, according to the report.
Phase 1 research involved the use of the U.S. military’s AN/SPY and AN/TPS-80 radars, Â Pomerleau said.
