Alan Lytle, formerly director of Northrop Grummanâs (NYSE:NOC) business development and strategy, has been appointed as vice president of the undersea systems business unit for the firmâs electronic systems sector.
He will oversee the companyâs design, development and production of submarine sensors, unmanned maritime systems, minehunting systems and torpedoes, Northrop said Friday.
Lytle will be based at Northrop Grummanâs Annapolis facility.
He previously served as a principal investigator and program manager at the National Institute of Standards and Technology prior to joining Northrop in 2010 as director of undersea systems special defense programs.
Holding the rank of captain, Lytle is a U.S. Navy submarine officer and served on fast attack submarines before he joined the Navy Reserve.
