L-3 Wins Navy Night Vision Binoculars Contract


L-3 logoL-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) has won a potential five-year, $49.5 million contract to build binocular night vision devices for the U.S. Navy to use for surveillance and identification.

The Naval Surface Warfare Center received three offers for the firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, the Defense Department said Wednesday.

L-3 will build the binoculars to help the Navy recognize and detect items of interest in environments where vision is limited due to conditions with little or no light.

The Navy will obligate $191, 866 in fiscal year 2015 other procurement and operations and maintenance funds at the time of award and $38, 373 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
