Juniper Vet Bask Iyer to Succeed Tony Scott as VMware CIO

Bask Iyer, formerly chief information officer at Juniper Networks (NYSE: JNPR), will join VMware (NYSE: VMW) as CIO and a senior vice president on March 23.

VMware said Wednesday the 25-year manufacturing and information technology sector veteran will succeed Tony Scott, who was announced in February as the White House’s next federal CIO.

Iyer will oversee VMware’s information and technology organizations worldwide and report to Jonathan Chadwick, VMware’s chief financial officer and chief operating officer who is also an executive VP.

He most recently led Juniper’s technology and business operations around information technology, real estate and workplace services.

Iyer previously served as CIO at Honeywell (NYSE: HON) and GlaxoSmithKline Beecham, where he was responsible for the company’s consumer healthcare research and development program.
