A joint venture of AECOM (NYSE: ACM) and CDM Smith will help the Federal Emergency Management Agency map, assess and plan flood risks under a potential five-year, $600 million contract vehicle.

Compass PTS will provide architectural and engineering services for FEMA’s Risk Mapping, Assessment and Planning initiative with the goal of minimizing risk to life and property damage from flooding, AECOM said Monday.

“By helping to prepare communities for disasters as well as adapt and recover if one occurs, our work will contribute to making cities safer and more resilient, ” said Michael Burke, CEO of AECOM.

The JV will also support the agency’s Hazard Mitigation Technical Assistance Program and Technical Assistance and Research Contracts program through the contract.

Work is scheduled to occur through December 2019.
