State Dept OKs $600M General Dynamics-Made Tank Ammo Sale to Iraq

ArmyGroundVehicleIraq has requested to procure General Dynamics-built (NYSE: GD) M1A1 Abrams tank weapons through a potential $600 million foreign military sales agreement with the U.S. government.

The State Department approved Iraq’s planned acquisition of 46, 000 high-explosive anti-tank munitions and kinetic energy warheads for its Abrams battle tanks fleet, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Monday.

General Dynamics’ ordnance tactical systems business could also provide ammunition parts along with logistics, technical and program support services to the government of Iraq.

DSCA says it has informed Congress of the pending FMS transaction.
