The system consists of a set of Patriot Advanced Capability-3Â missiles and associated parts and equipment, as well as personnel training and logistics and technical support, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Wednesday.
Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) and Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) are the prime contractors for the sale.
DSCA noted that Saudi Arabia intends to restock its current Patriot missiles inventory and sustain its defense missions through the purchase of new missiles.
The proposed sale includes:
- 202 PAC-3 missiles with containers
- One Guidance Enhanced Missile flight test target/Patriot-as-a-Target
- Two PAC-3 telemetry kits
- Six fire solution computers
- 36 launcher station modification kits
- Two missile round trainers
- Two PAC-3 slings
- Six Patriot Automated Logistics System kits
- Six shorting plugs
The future contract will also cover spare and repair parts, repair and return services, technical documentation, lot validation and range support, ground support equipment and training equipment, DSCA said.
It also calls for one U.S. contractor to assist in system checkout and equipment fielding on-site in Saudi Arabia over a three-year period.
