DISA to Acquire Red Hat Software From DLT; Jim Propps Comments


DLT solutionsDLT Solutions has been awarded a new blanket purchase agreement worth up to $40 million to provide Red Hat software and services to the Defense Department and intelligence agencies.

The Defense Information Systems Agency awarded the new contract, which will run for five years through June 2019 as part of the Pentagon’s Enterprise Software Initiative, DLT said Tuesday.

The Red Hat software in the recompete project includes Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, Red Hat JBoss Middleware, Red Hat Storage and some Red Hat Cloud services.

DLT Solutions Enterprise Sales Director Jim Propps said the company intends to offer Red Hat services to any interested customers and added the company has been doing that for DoD and the intelligence community since 2004.

Agencies have sought to acquire open source software in order to bring down administrative costs, he added.
