Teledyne Technologies (NYSE: TDY) has moved to grow its marine acoustic imaging business by purchasing Atlas Hydrographic, a developer of sonar technology for mid and deep water environments.
Robert Mehrabian, Teledyne president and CEO, said Monday the company adds multi-beam transmitters for marine science and ocean surveying applications to its portfolio through the acquisition.
Germany-based Atlas Hydrographic manufactures customized echo sounders and sub-bottom profiling systems designed to collect data on the seafloor.
Teledyne offers a range of instrumentation products, digital imaging equipment and electronic systems for aerospace and defense customers globally.
