The Brazilian army is buying $130 million in kits intended to modernize the nation’s fleet of 434 armored personnel carriers, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Wednesday.
DSCA also announced Wednesday that Brazil wants to acquire 40 kits for M109A5+ self-propelled howitzer modernization through a separate $110 million contract.
Both contracts will include BAE delivering upgrade kits, spares, manuals and test equipment as well as training, engineering, logistics and technical support services to Brazil’s military.
The FMS transactions have been approved by the U.S. State Department and are subject to review by Congress.
