Bradley Feldmann, president and chief operating officer at Cubic Corp. since January 2013, will succeed Bill Boyle as CEO of the San Diego-based defense and transportation technology contractor on July 1.

Boyle will act as an adviser to Feldmann after July 1 and remain on the company’s board of directors until the next annual shareholders meeting, Cubic said Wednesday.

Feldmann, who also serves as president of the Cubic Defense Systems business, joined the board of directors Wednesday and the board comprises of seven directors.

“Having worked with Brad for many years, I know that he is the right leader at the right time for Cubic,” Executive Chairman Walter C. Zable said.

“I see numerous growth opportunities in the coming years for both Cubic and the greater industry,” Zable said.

Feldmann first joined Cubic in 1989 and spent a decade with the Cubic Defense Applications team.

He then held senior leadership roles at OMNIPLEX and ManTech International (NASDAQ: MANT) before returning to Cubic in 2008.
