Boeing (NYSE:BA) is exploring a potential acquisition of digital imaging processing and big data processing technology maker Mercury Systems (NASDAQ: MRCY), Reuters reported Friday.
Nicola Leske and Mike Stone write that Boeing wants to increase its presence in the commercial aerospace component sector and access Mercury’s microprocessor business.
Evercore Partners has been hired to help Mercury secure a buyout deal and Mercury wants $500 million for the transaction, according to the report.
Some private equity firms have made preliminary offers but no other prime defense contractors have shown interest in buying Mercury, Reuters reports.
