Paul Zonneveld: Deloitte Continues Cybersecurity Expansion With Urgentis Buy

acquisitionDeloitte has purchased Alberta, Canada-based cybersecurity firm Urgentis Digital Crisis Solutions Inc. for an undisclosed amount in a move to help clients respond to advanced malicious threats.

The purchase is intended to combine both firms’ crisis management and security offerings to better safeguard customers’ information assets, Deloitte said Thursday.

Paul Zonneveld, Deloitte enterprise risk services managing partner for Western Canada, said the Deloitte cybersecurity practice seeks to grow its data protection service offerings through the acquisition.

“Companies are vulnerable to a variety of cybersecurity risks, whether it’s a hacker, a competitor engaging in industrial espionage, or a disgruntled employee stealing trade secrets, ” Zonneveld added.

Urgentis works with organizations to investigate computer network intrusions and other security incidents by using data analytics tools, according to Deloitte.

The transaction was backed by Deloitte’s corporate development office.
