The company said Monday the GTM operations organization has three functions in areas such as field operations, global marketing and customer success operations.
Salmon started at NetApp in 1994 as a member of the sales organization and has led the worldwide field operations since 2004.
NetApp says he helped the company develop its customer segmentation and selling model.
A computer science graduate of California State University in Chico, Salmon also worked at Sun Microsystems and Data General Corporation prior to joining NetApp.
