Mike Delaney: Boeing Restructures Engineering Operations


Boeing Logo w-borderBoeing (NYSE: BA) has moved to realign its engineering operations by integrating customer services into its commercial airplane design center in Southern California.

Mike Delaney, vice president of engineering at Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said Thursday the company aims for the restructure to help grow the business, manage risks and meet customer needs.

Boeing also intends for the centralized in-production airplanes customer support at the Southern California engineering design facility to create nearly 1, 000 jobs over the next two years.

The aerospace company plans to work with clients in the Puget Sound area to add the 787 Dreamliner, 737 MAX and 777X airplanes to their existing fleet.

Support services for the 737, 747, 767 and 777 models as well as the KC-46 Tanker and P-8 will be migrated to California by the end of 2015.
