Keith Salzman Joins IBM’s Federal Arm as Chief Medical Information Officer

Keith Salzman, formerly chief medical information officer at CACI International (NYSE: CACI), has joined IBM (NYSE: IBM) in the same role for the company’s U.S. federal business unit.

Salzman heads to IBM as the company kicks off a series of investments in its U.S. federal healthcare practice to further development in big data and cognitive computing technologies, IBM said Thursday.

He joined CACI in March 2011 after a 22-year career in the U.S. Army that included service as CIMO at Washington state-based Madigan Army Medical Center, where he started an informatics division for the Military Health System.

Salzman’s other roles in the Army have included roles such as:

  • interim deputy commander for clinical services in Kosovo and Heidelberg, Germany
  • deputy commander for outlying clinics in Heidelberg
  • first surgeon for the Initial/Interim Brigade Combat team
  • team leader and professional filler surgeon at Tripler Army Medical Center
