CA technologiesEmbarcadero Technologies intends to acquire the data modeling business of CA Technologies for an undisclosed amount in a move aimed at adding new channel partners and accessing broader markets.

“Data architecture is now the biggest part of Embarcadero’s business and represents our significant commitment to the category,” Wayne Williams, Embarcadero Technologies CEO, said Thursday.

As part of the agreement, Embarcadero will have full access and ownership of the CA ERwin Data Modeling product.

CA ERwin is used by more than 500 partners across 70 countries, the companies said.

“Every aspect of IT – from application development and business intelligence to security and user experience – is defined and driven by data architecture,” Williams said.
