Robert Gaylord Appointed L-3 Maritime Systems President

L3 logoRobert Gaylord, formerly a senior vice president and general manager at L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL), has been promoted to president of the company’s maritime systems business, GovCon Wire has learned.

The business comprises of 80 employees across two facilities in New Orleans and Leesburg, Va. that work to integrate electrical and electronic systems onto naval and marine platforms.

Gaylord, a nearly three-decade industry veteran, joined L-3 in October 2010 as vice president of programs for the company’s global security and engineering solutions unit.

He served in that role for two years, then was promoted to SVP and GM of global security solutions and held that position for one year before elevating to maritime systems lead.

Prior to L-3, he served as a director of programs at BAE Systems for 9 years and led reconnaissance programs at Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) for four years.

He is also a former program manager for Loral Fairchild Systems and started his career at Fairchild Camera and Instrument as a department manager.
