Colin Powell Joins Salesforce.com Board of Directors; Marc Benioff Comments

Colin Powell, the former secretary of state and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has joined the board of directors at Salesforce.com (NYSE: CRM).

Powell’s appointment took effect Thursday brings the board’s total number of members to 11, Salesforce said Friday.

The retired four-star U.S. Army general served in the military for 35 years and is also a former national security adviser.

Marc Benioff, chairman and CEO of Salesforce.com, said Powell has previously worked with the company to establish its philanthropic model and the Salesforce.com Foundation.

Powell serves as a strategic limited partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.

He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations’ board of directors and also chairs board of visitors of the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership at the City College of New York.
