Exelis to Equip Pakistan’s Defensive Electronic Warfare System; Joe Rambala Comments

ExelisExelis (NYSE: XLS) has received a $9 million order from the U.S. Air Force for spare electronic warfare components, adding to their $53 million contract in December 2011 to supply EW systems to Pakistan.

The company said Tuesday the spare components are for the ALQ-211 Advanced Integrated Defensive Electronic Warfare Suite systems it delivered under the original contract to block radio frequency attacks on Pakistan’s F-16 aircraft.

“The AIDEWS pod offers protection against a range of dynamic electronic threats, ” said Joe Rambala, vice president and general manager of Exelis’ integrated electronic warfare systems unit.

Work on the components will be completed at Exelis’ New Jersey electronic systems facility for completion by 2016.
