Parsons will build the planned Pea Island Bridge in Dare County, N.C. under a $79.6 million contract with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, the company said Thursday.
“Parsons is excited to be chosen by NCDOT to construct this important project, ” said Garry Higdem, a Parsons group president, noting the company’s experience in previous disaster recovery projects.
The bridge is part of NCDOT’s project to construct permanent structures over breaches along the NC-12 highway caused by Hurricane Irene in 2011.
Those structures are intended to replace the almost three miles of temporary roads that were originally built.
