Defense Dept Issues Call for EHR Sustainment Proposals

PentagonThe Defense Department is seeking proposals to maintain its electronic health record system through 2018 under a contract that could be worth between $250 million to $1 billion, Nextgov reported Thursday.

Bob Brewin writes the Defense Health Agency launched the procurement process for the contract intended to sustain the Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application, Composite Health Care System and Clinical Data Repository.

The contract covers four years and nine months starting in March if the DHA exercises all options and the potential contractor will work to upgrade AHLTA and CHCS, according to the report.

The contract’s winner will also work to operate a military EHR system intended to serve 9.7 million active and retired personnel and their families, Nextgov reports.
