L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) has purchased radar sensor builder Mustang Technology Group L.P. for an undisclosed amount in an effort to grow technology and service offerings and expand customer base.
Mustang has been renamed L-3 Mustang Technology and its technologies and customers are a part of L-3’s precision engagement business within the electronic systems segment, L-3 said Thursday.
Michael Strianese, L-3 chairman, president and CEO, said the company intends for the acquisition to extend its Defense Department and classified business reach, as well as to consolidate Mustang’s technologies into L-3’s fuzing, ordnance and unmanned systems.
Plano, Texas-based L-3 Mustang Technology develops radar sensors and systems for military applications such as guided weapons, electronic warfare and unmanned systems.
L-3 expects L-3 Mustang Technology to generate $36 million in sales for the company’s fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2013.
