Ret. Maj. Gen. Charles Lyon to Lead Northrop’s Hampton Business, Represent Company to Joint and Air Force Commands in U.S., Europe

Lyon has been appointed as the new corporate lead executive for Northrop Grumman‘s (NYSE: NOC) Hampton, Va. business, where he will represent the the Falls Church, Va.-based contractor’s company to customers in its ‘eastern’ region, the company announced Dec. 23.

Lyon, who comes out from retirement from the Air Force after more than 30 years of service, will report directly to Timothy C. Jones, vice president of aviation and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance at Northrop Grumman.

The former director of operations, Headquarters, Air Combat Command, Hampton, Va. rose to the rank of major general in 2010.

“(Lyon’s) extensive military leadership experience, particularly leading Air Force combat operations, will be a great asset in helping Northrop Grumman provide its broad range of capabilities in support of our customers, ” said Jones.

Northrop said Lyon’s responsibilities will extend to Joint and Air Force commands across the country and Europe, including the European Command, Africa Command, Air Combat Command, Global Strike Command, Air & Education Training Command and U.S. Air Forces Europe.
