CalAmp Buys Mobile Resource Provider RSI; Michael Burdiek Comments

wireless communicationsCalAmp (NASDAQ: CAMP) has bought mobile resource management provider Radio Satellite Integrators for $6.5 million as part of efforts to grow in the state and local public safety market.

The acquisition is intended to raise CalAmp’s total profits and non-generally accepted accounting principles earnings per share in its 2014 fiscal year, CalAmp said Wednesday.

Michael Burdiek, president and CEO of CalAmp, said the company wants the acquisition to increase its revenue stream and grow the company’s FirstNet broadband network offering for city and county government clients.

Southern California-based RSI’s software services are used for applications in public works, waste management, transportation and public safety, CalAmp says.

RSI generates nearly $5 million in revenue on a 12-month basis, according to CalAmp.
