Robert Mehltretter, a 31-year veteran of Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC), has been named vice president of the navigation and positioning systems business within the company’s electronic systems sector.

He will be responsible for the unit’s domestic and overseas programs that work to provide customers mapping technologies and sensors for spacecraft, land vehicles, ships, missiles and aircraft, Northrop said Wednesday.

Mehltretter most recently served as program director for the Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle missile defense program.

He has also directed systems engineering, payload integration and ground support for the Space-Based Infrared System.

Mehltretter holds a master’s degree in business administration from Claremont Graduate University and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from California State Polytechnic University.
