AAR Awarded $400M for Military Containers, Shelters; Mark Platko Comments

PentagonAAR (NYSE: AIR) has been awarded a potential five-year,  $400 million contract by the Defense Logistics Agency to provide shelters and containers for shipping and storage to the U.S. military.

Other federal agencies can acquire the equipment under the contract awarded by DLA’s troop support office, AAR said Thursday.

The company intends for the contract to bring between $200 million and $250 million in revenue to its mobility systems business.

Mark Platko, AAR general manager of mobility systems, said the company aims for its aluminum construction to help the military reduce fuel consumption.

Platko added its products are also designed to not require ancillary equipment to be on- or off-loaded into aircraft.

AAR will manufacture the components at its Cadillac, Mich. and Goldsboro, N.C. plants.
