Michael Maiorana, formerly a region president at Verizon Wireless (NYSE, NASDAQ: VZ), has been appointed senior vice president of public sector markets for Verizon’s enterprise solutions business.
He succeeds Susan Zeleniak, a 16-year company veteran who has retired after a 39-year career in the telecommunications industry, Verizon said Monday.
Maiorana most recently served as president of the Washington-Baltimore-Virginia region for Verizon Wireless with responsibility for sales, marketing, customer service and retail stores.
The 23-year company veteran has also served as vice president of national government sales and operations for Verizon Wireless and led sales and customer service in the federal, state and local government markets.
Maiorana joined Verizon in 1990 as a sales representative and later held roles in corporate and government accounts, retail sales, sales operations and training.
He is serving a second term on the Northern Virginia Technology Council’s board of directors.
