Louis Berger Wins $50M for Post-Disaster Power Services; Tom Lewis Comments

LouisBergerGroup W-borderThe Louis Berger Group has won a five-year, $50 million contract to support national emergency power missions carried out by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers‘ Pittsburgh District.

Louis Berger will work with the Corps before, during and after a federally-declared disaster in regions where the Federal Emergency Management Agency operates, the company said Monday.

Tom Lewis, Louis Berger senior vice president for U.S. operations, said the company aims to help the Corps deploy staff and equipment to public buildings within 24 hours of an emergency.

The company will install, operate, fuel and maintain diesel-powered generators in hospitals, water and sewage facilities, 911 centers, police and fire stations, assisted living centers and shelters.

Work will take place in 20 states that fall within FEMA regions one, two and three.

“The approximately 62 million residents of these three FEMA regions rely on these life-saving and life-sustaining facilities during declared emergencies, ” Lewis said.
