James Koenig Named Booz Allen Privacy, Health Cyber Lead; Reggie Van Lee Comments

James Koenig, formerly a practice lead at PwC, has joined Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH) to lead the firm’s privacy and identity theft practice and cybersecurity in the commercial health market.

He officially joined the firm on Monday and will hold global responsibilities, Booz Allen said Sept. 25.

“As organizations unlock the opportunities of so-called ‘big data, ’ leaders also need to strike the crucial balance between privacy, security, national security and business objectives, ” said Reggie Van Lee, a Booz Allen executive vice president.

“Jim has worked on all sides of the issues – from regulatory and legal, to technical development, management and marketing, ” Van Lee added.

While at PwC,   Koenig led the firm’s privacy and identity theft practice and served as co-leader of the health information privacy and security practice.

He is a co-founder of the International Association of Privacy Professionals and has also worked on compliance, data analytics and business solutions projects for cases involving agencies such as the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Health and Human Services‘ civil rights office.

Koenig has also held business, technology and legal positions at companies such as QVC, MaMaMedia.com, Weil, and Gotshal Manges LLP.
