Navy Schedules Unmanned Underwater Vehicle Industry Seminar

NavyShoreThe U.S. Navy will brief industry in October on a program to build an unmanned underwater vehicle for long-term coastal operations, Military & Aerospace Electronics reported Thursday.

John Keller writes the Naval Undersea Warfare Center and Naval Sea Systems Command will jointly discuss the Large Displacement Unmanned Undersea Vehicle program with interested companies on Oct. 16 at an Alion Science and Technology‘s facility in Washington.

The Navy intends for the UUV to gather intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance data from the ocean and coastal waters by using sensors, according to the report.

Keller reports UUV experts from the Navy will address the LDUUV’s intended capabilities and technologies, program schedule, budget, risks, hiring and evaluation.
