Phyllis Schneck Officially Named DHS Cyber Undersecretary

Phyllis Schneck - McAfee,  ExecutiveMosaicPhyllis Schneck, global public sector vice president and chief technology officer at McAfee,  since 2009, has officially been appointed deputy homeland security undersecretary for cybersecurity.

She will work to help further develop the government’s ability to protect information systems and networks of national interest,  Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced Monday.

Schneck’s 14-year career in the security and infrastructure sector includes senior-level positions at Computer Sciences Corp. (NYSE: CSC), IBM (NYSE: IBM), MITRE Corp. and NASA.

Her career also includes leadership of the board of directors of the National Cyber Forensics and Training Alliance and an eight-year chairmanship of the InfraGard national board of directors under the FBI.

Schneck holds three information security patents and six publications that focus on industry research.
