CSC Acquires Big Data Firm Infochimps; Jim Kaskade Comments

CSC logo_GovConWireComputer Sciences Corp. (NYSE: CSC) has acquired Infochimps Inc. with the goal of expanding its big data customer base.

Sashi Reddi, CSC vice president and general manager, will lead the wholly owned subsidiary under CSC’s big data and analytics business unit, Infochimps said Tuesday.

Jim Kaskade, Infochimps CEO, said the company aims to leverage CSC’s client base, sales, marketing, product development and production resources in an effort to help the mother company grow its big data, cloud and open source offerings.

Infochimps will retain its current management team and CSC will combine its 90,000 employees worldwide with the subsidiary’s offices in Austin, Texas, and Silicon Valley, Calif., Kaskade said.

The company, founded by data scientists, cloud computing engineers and open source professionals, provides big data and cloud services.
