Raytheon Buys Big Data Software Provider Visual Analytics; Lynn Dugle Comments

Raytheon logo_EbizRaytheon (NYSE: RTN) has purchased big data management software provider Visual Analytics Inc. for an undisclosed amount, aiming to grow its portfolio of data sharing, visualization and analytics offerings.

The acquisition also seeks to grow Raytheon’s knowledge management solutions user interface to Raytheon’s portfolio for public sector clients, Raytheon said Thursday.

Lynn Dugle, president of Raytheon’s intelligence, information and services business, said the company intends to bring new visualization offerings to customers as they aim to transform data into actionable intelligence.

Frederick, Md.-based Visual Analytics joins Raytheon’s IIS business and will operate under the name Raytheon Visual Analytics.

Chris Westphal, Visual Analytics co-founder and CEO, and President David O’Connor will serve as general manager and chief technology officer of the renamed business, respectively.
