Paul Cofoni, the former president and CEO at CACI International, has been appointed executive chairman of the board of directors at PAE.

The 30-year government services veteran led CACI for five years, during which the company grew its revenue from $1.6 billion to $3.8 billion and acquired 20 companies, PAE said Wednesday.

Cofoni spoke to ExecutiveBiz in December 2011 to discuss the company’s acquisition strategy and ways the public and private sectors can work together.

He retired from CACI in December 2012 after seven years with the company, having joined in 2005 as president of U.S. operations.

Prior to CACI, he served as president for the federal sector at Computer Sciences Corp.‘s (NYSE: CSC).

The sector grew its revenue from $2.7 billion to $5 billion during his five years there.

Before joining CSC, he served in technical and management functions at General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) for 17 years.

Cofoni also served as a U.S. Army officer from 1970 to 1974.

Executive Mosaic, GovCon Wire’s parent company, selected Cofoni to its Washington 100 list in November 2012 in recognition of his three-decade GovCon career.

He won the Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards’ “Executive of the Year” award for 2011 and was named GCN’s “IT Executive of the Year” in 2012.

Cofoni is also a former chairman of the Professional Services Council and chairman of the board for the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association International.
