Exelis Wins 2nd Army Night Vision Goggles Option

ExelisLogoITT Exelis (NYSE: XLS) has won a $48 million contract option to continue producing night vision goggles for the U.S. Army, representing the second of two production year contract options.

Exelis won the first contract option in April 2012 by competing and qualifying its Spiral Enhanced Night Vision Goggles through the program’s qualification phase, the company said Monday.

SENVG goggles, or AN/PSQ-20A units, are designed to help soldiers detect and identify threats during missions at night through infrared imagery.

The goggles also aim to intensify images for warfighters and adapt to future network integrations.

Exelis expects to finish deliveries in 2014, the company says.
