Steven Cortese Named DRS Washington Operations EVP; William Lynn Comments

Steven Cortese, a senior vice president at ATK (NYSE: ATK), has joined DRS Technologies as executive vice president for Washington operations.

Cortese will serve as senior manager of the company’s relationships with U.S. Defense Department and federal agency customers, international customers and with defense industry business leaders, DRS said Friday.

ATK announced last week Cortese will leave the company as of this Wednesday after nearly two years as SVP for government relations and corporate communications.

William Lynn, DRS CEO, said Cortese brings to the company knowledge of business challenges and opportunities the defense industry faces.

He joined ATK in 2006 after serving as VP of programs and budgets for three years at Lockheed Martin‘s (NYSE: LMT) Washington operations office.

Prior to joining Lockheed, he served on the staff of the Senate Appropriations Committee for 17 years, including the full committee and its defense appropriations subcommittee.“DRS will benefit from Steve’s intimate knowledge of our customers’ environment and needs, as well as his deep understanding of the business challenges and opportunities facing the industry, ” Lynn said.
