Report: Boeing to Receive New Army Chinook Contract in May

BoeingLogoBoeing (NYSE: BA) is scheduled to receive a contract in May for a second batch of CH-47 Chinook helicopters after the company and the U.S. Army agreed to a price.

This second multi-year contract will comprise of 155 helicopters and options for 60 more, 16 of which are set aside for Turkey and the United Arab Emirates, Flightglobal reports.

Army Col. Bob Marion, project manager for cargo helicopters, told Flightglobal the Army will award the contract to Boeing after the branch finishes processing the needed documents.

Dave Mamjudar writes the new agreement reduces the contract’s cost by 19.2 percent, or $810 million.

Lt. Col. Michael Hauenstein, CH-47F product manager, told Flightglobal the helicopters will start to roll off the production line in April 2015.
