Jeremy Wensinger, former chief operating officer of GTSI Corp., has joined US Investigations Services as president of the global security and solutions division.

He will lead a team of 3, 000 employees that support national security missions and work with government agencies to protect people, information, operating systems and other assets, USIS said Wednesday.

Wensinger heads to the Falls Church, Va.-based security consulting company nearly four months after former GTSI CEO Sterling Phillips was appointed chief executive at USIS.

Phillips spoke to ExecutiveBiz for an exclusive interview shortly after his appointment was announced, where he outlined some of his goals for USIS and what it takes to succeed in the GovCon sector.

Prior to joining GTSI in October 2011, he served as chairman and president of Cobham Defense Systems and led a group of businesses providing electronic systems and professional services to government agencies, including the intelligence community.

Wensinger is also a 20-year veteran of Harris Corp. (NYSE: HRS), where his positions included group president of the government communications systems business, president of the information technology services business and president of the broadcast communications division.
