BAE Systems has won a $57 million contract to manufacture gun systems for a new fleet of Malaysian navy warships, Defense News reports.
Andrew Chuter writes the company will build the 57-milimeter Mk3 guns at its Karlskoga, Sweden-based gun operation and is scheduled to deliver the weapons to Malaysia in mid-2015.
Boustead Naval Shipyard is building the Second Generation Patrol Vessel – Littoral Combat Ships, according to the report.
Malaysia is purchasing six SGPV-LCS ships for combat, fisheries, protecting oil and gas platforms and anti-piracy missions, Chuter writes.
