Lockheed Providing AF GPS On-Orbit Support

LockheedLogoLockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has won a $68, 856, 746 contract to provide on-orbit support for the U.S. Air Force‘s GPS systems, the Defense Department said Thursday.

The Air Force awarded Lockheed the fixed-price, incentive-firm contract through a sole-source acquisition and is allocating funds for fiscal years 2013 through fiscal 2018.

Work will occur in Colorado Springs, Colo through July 31, 2018 and Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. is the contracting activity.

The company recently won a $104 million contract from the Air Force to help run a satellite system providing users position, navigation and timing signals and other types of location information.

Lockheed and its four subcontractors are also responsible for testing software under the ground control segment support contract.
