General Dynamics Wins $133M Abrams Tank Sale

General DynamicsGeneral Dynamics (NYSE: GD) has won a $132.7 million U.S. Army contract to produce 69 Abrams tanks for a foreign military sale, the company said Tuesday.

Saudi Arabia is acquiring the M1A2 Abrams tanks as part of a plan to upgrade its M1A1 and M1A2 tank fleet to the M1A2S configuration.

The company said this contract continues work that started in 2008 and work under this award will occur at the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center in Lima, Ohio through July 31, 2014.

The U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command awarded the contract.

Morocco requested a $1 billion sale of Abrams tanks in July 2012, asking to buy 200 M1A1 Abrams tanks and related parts from the U.S. government.
