BAE Wins $226M for Doppler GPS System Parts

BAElogoBAE Systems has won a $226 million contract to provide the U.S. Army components for navigation systems used onboard helicopters.

The Defense Department said BAE will also provide repairs, maintenance and other services in support of the Doppler GPS Navigation Sets.

BAE’s AN/ASN-128B/C Doppler navigation set is designed to use both Doppler-based and GPS navigation systems, with one of the systems intended to provide pilots positioning information when the other system is not available.

BAE says it designed the Doppler to provide velocity information for hover and navigation if the GPS signal is lost and the GPS system to provide positioning information if the Doppler is in memory.

Work under the firm-fixed price contract will occur in Wayne, N.J. and Austin, Texas through Dec. 1, 2017 and the Army Contracting Command’s office at Fort Monmouth, N.J. is the contracting activity.
