Accenture‘s (NYSE: ACN) federal business has won an eight-month contract to design an information technology system for the Defense Contract Management Agency to mange contracting activity.

The company said it will focus on analytics, work flow and streamlining reporting with the goal of helping the DCMA address reviews that require manual processes.

Joe Chenelle, head of Accenture’s defense and intelligence agency business, said the company aims to provide DCMA a blueprint for using technology in its processes.

The DCMA is responsible for tracking costs and schedules submitted by contractors under the National Defense Industry Association’s standards for earned value management.

Accenture will design an analytics program for acquiring information that determines a contractor’s compliance with guidelines and standards.

The company says regional field offices, program managers and Defense Department executives can share the information for analysis, tracking, monitoring and reporting program performance via a web-based portal.
